Wiring

PinRequiredNotes
signal Yes Requires a square wave at the desired pitch.

Supply: 3.3V or 5V

Failure modes

  • Produces no sound from a steady level. It must be driven with a square wave at the target frequency.
  • Software PWM jitters under load and the pitch wavers audibly. Hardware PWM channels are limited and are shared with other peripherals.
  • Drive current at the top of its range exceeds a GPIO pin. Loud operation needs a transistor.
